Low-cost photovoltaic solar cells are considered as a promising technology having the potential to significantly decrease the costs of solar energy. They have attracted considerable interest on the scientific and production community due their low-energetic production cost and low-cost of the raw materials, which offer the perspective of very low-cost fabrication and present attractive features that facilitate market entry.
The phenomenal progress realized recently in the fabrication and characterization of nanocrystalline materials has opened up vast new opportunities for these systems.
Therefore the objectives of the Workshop are:

• Presenting the most advanced scientific and research topics in new materials and processes; new substrates and new photovoltaic cell concepts; design and synthesis of novel organic and molecular semiconductors for photovoltaic energy conversion; hybrid photovoltaic devices: solid state dye sensitized devices and inorganic/organic nanocomposite devices; and device evaluation and technological perspectives.
• Exchanging of knowledge and experience between scientists from CEI EU-Member States and CEI Non-EU-Member States in the field of low-cost photovoltaic solar cells.
• Presenting the status and potential of scientific activities in the field of low-cost photovoltaic solar cells by participants in their own countries.
• Establishing network for common research activities in low-cost photovoltaic solar cells between CEI-Member States.
• Training of young scientists from CEI-Member States in this field.
• Planning joint project activities for feature collaboration on regional level.
• Presenting Industrial Companies from Republic of Macedonia, potential users of research results.
• Establishing collaboration between Industrial Companies and scientists for development and improvement new technological processes in this field.

A continuation of the impulse given through this event can be expected through the establishment of a network and improvement of research activities in the field of low-cost solar cells in CEI Region.
